The Museum of Black Creativity and Kemi Healing Systems are excited to announce our 6 week Summer Farafina Balan Intensive! Grab your slots while they last! We will be offering weekly Monday sessions, beginning July 7th, 2025. Farafina Balan is an intensive for those who are truly interested in taking the initial dive into the world of West African Mallet instruments. We will begin with a gentle body warm up then move to the Soso Balan from Guinea West Africa giving focused attention to materials and instrument quality. We will study level 1 ear training for Balan where the student begins to learn tone identification. We will also learn at minimum, four songs on the instrument culminating with a final presentation for our community and families. Learn in a communal environment with others who have an enthusiasm for African Instruments. Please come dressed comfortably, prepared to engage! Excited to see you there!
